About TNO TNO, the Netherlands Institute for Applied Scientific Research, is a non-governmental, non-university research organization employing about 5000 people. The Centre for Maritime Constructions forms an integral part of TNO Institute of Building & Construction Research and has a staff of 30 qualified scientists and engineers. TNO-CMC has over 40 years experience in the field of marine structures, mechanical testing and measurement, structural engineering and design and finite element analyses.
Research expertise in: Shock, slamming and vibration; Strength and endurance; Crashworthiness; Fire protection, corrosion research, automation research and human behaviour research.
The Centre co-ordinated a project, named FatHTS, to investigate the fatigue behaviour of high tensile steel ship structures. Currently, the Centre runs the project FasdHTS, CrashCoaster and participates in SANDWICH.
