About UOS
The work envisaged in this NoE will be conducted in the Fluid Structure Interactions Research Group (FSIRG) within the School of Engineering Sciences (SES). FSIRG has a staff of 14 academics (including 7 Professors, 2 Senior Lecturers and 5 Senior Research Fellows), 8 consulting engineers and 13 Research Assistants. There are currently about 45 students registered under the doctoral and research programmes in FSIRG. Research themes within FSIRG include hydro-elasticity, ship design, ship resistance and propulsion, ship motions and ship structures: these are underpinned by fundamental studies in continuum mechanics, computational mechanics, experimental stress analysis, control theory and signal processing, risk analysis and numerical analysis.
